7. Objectives, learning outcomes and obtained knowledge To obtain the certificate, the student must prepare a BSc thesis which should prove that the candidate can do independent engineering work, he/she can apply engineering methods, he/she is capable of understanding the task, and to interpret and analyze the chosen solution.
8. Synopsis

The topic of BSc Thesis project can be chosen from among the topics of the department of the faculty (preferably belonging to the specialization and – if it exists – the branch selected by the student).

The topic of a department, not teaching in the student’s specialization, is only acceptable if the student obtained the permission of the Director of the BSc English program of the faculty.

A topic offered by another faculty, university or external company (economic organization) can only be accepted if one of the professionally relevant heads of departments of the specialization supports it and provides a supervisor. The external supervisor, approved by the head of the department, can be an expert with a university or master (MSc) degree. When selecting the topic of BSc Thesis and preparing the thesis itself, students must make sure to avoid violating the interest of the company (economic organization) so that his/her work can be reviewed.

BSc Thesis can also be prepared with the supervision of an external consultant/supervisor at an external company (economic organization) onsite. If the student has to do an internship as well which is performed at the same company that has announced the topic of the thesis, the work regarding preparation and internship must be separated.

It is possible to hand out the same thesis topic to two or more students, but only separately, designated to names, and only if the results of the work can be separated.  In the task announcement it must be specified which part is carried out by which student, either it is independent or group work.

The student must write a statement of having written the thesis on his/her own.

In case of a common topic, it must be marked which subtask was not written independently.

9. Method of instruction Independent work with the help of a supervisor.
10. Assessment

During the study period:

BSc Thesis Project subject shall be completed during the given semester. The necessary but not sufficient condition of completing the subject is the preparation and submission of the thesis until the deadline stated in the announcement. The mark is given by the supervisor, or by the internal supervisor.in case of an external supervisor.

The submission of the thesis

The submission deadline of the BSc thesis is the last day of the study period.

The consultant of the department decides on the submission of the thesis. An external consultant gives a recommendation for the qualification of the submission in case a topic was announced by another faculty, university or external company (economic organization). The condition of submission concerning the content: in the thesis, the solution of all the subtasks, which were determined in the announcement and which were to be carried out independently, shall be presented. If the solution of a subtask is impossible, then the thesis can be submitted with the permission of the head of the department, but the fact and reason of the impossibility must be stated in the subsection of the subtask.

The formal requirements of the thesis:
The thesis shall be submitted:

  • in one copy in writing, in one volume with hard cover, with supplements if necessary and
  • in one copy in electronic form, according to the relevant the regulations of the faculty.
The thesis of two or more students with common topic shall be prepared in separate volumes and separate electronic copies.

The department informs the students about the preparation, submission and the defense of the thesis.

The completed thesis grade will be decided by the Final Examination Committee.
11. Recaps The thesis can be submitted in case of a serious reason until the end of the delayed completion period with the preliminary permission of the consultant.

The thesis which was not accepted by the final examination committee (qualified as a fail), shall be submitted again. The final examination committee may prescribe the correction or the repeated preparation of the thesis. A thesis can only be resubmitted once.
12. Consultations The thesis project preparing practice and the preparation of the thesis project is guided by the department’s consultant or the external consultant. Beyond the external consultant, a department’s consultant shall also be ensured. The department’s consultant is a full-time or part-time instructor, researcher, teacher (magister, engineer teacher, technical teacher, economic teacher, practice instructor), department engineer or Ph.D. candidate of the faculty; the external consultant, approved by the department’s leader, can be an external expert with university or master (MSc) degree.
13. References, textbooks and resources The special literature necessary to work out the topic will be gathered and properly cited by the student under the control of the leading consultant.
