8. Synopsis The parallelization has historically played a vital role in addressing the performance demands of high-end engineering and scientific applications. It has now moved to a main strategy of current hardware and overall systems trends. All computer systems - embedded, game and graphics controllers, high-end supercomputers, and large-scale data centres - are being built using components with an increasing number of processing elements (nodes, chips, cores). The goal of this course to introduce the foundation of parallel computing including the principles of parallel algorithm design, analytical modelling of parallel programs and architectures, PVM and MPI programming models the basic elements of Grid and cloud computing.
