    7. Objectives, learning outcomes and obtained knowledge The objective is to provide the students with the required theoretical background in calculus for further engineering studies.

     

    Obtained skills and expertise:

     

    Theoretical knowledge and problem solving competence in calculus.

     
    8. Synopsis (1) Real sequences. Special limits, number e. Operations on convergent sequences. Monotonic and bounded sequences.

     

    (2) Continuity and differentiability of real functions of a single variable. Elementary functions and their inverses, properties of differentiable functions, mean value theorems, L′Hospital rule, sketching graphs, parametric and polar curves.

     

    (3) Integral of functions of a single variable. Methods of integration, the fundamental theorem of calculus (Newton-Leibniz formula), applications, improper integrals.
